week eight

Some of the many images i took and then we had to whittle them down to just three.

my final three images

week seven

200 photos:

We all came together minus Dando who had left the group, and we brought our 200 photos we took of anything.so this was to add to the 100 that we had previously taken the week before, so now we had around or close to 300 photos each.

As you can see we laid out our prints which completely covered one class room, and then it was the painstaking task of looking through each of them and whittling down to around 20 each i think.
once we had marked the ones we liked each we then went and printed those particular images off
and came back to our meeting room and looked at the images again.

And again we then chose the better of the images out of the 20 each down to 6, and this continued until we had 3 of the best images of ours each.

week six

This week we spoke to Peter out tutor and explained to him that we were now beginning  to  slow up on our ideas and wanting to have something concrete to go on, but having one member still not attending any meetings we decided to drop this member and carry on.

When peter asked us what got us going as we were talking to him about the mind being a stimulant,
and the funny thing was that most of us came back with similar topics.

Hana went and took photos at a disused hospital, which looked like something out of a horror movie, or jack the ripper was going to jump out at you. So her stimulant was fear.

Sarah is an asthmatic, and so she depends on her inhaler for cases of if she has trouble breathing, for her this is a stimulant that helps her to breath and to live in some ways.

For Launi hers is coffee, and her normal dosage is three cups before 10:00am (laugh).
for her this is a stimulant that keeps her going and awake.

for myself, mine is speed(not the drug). i race motorcycles and the rush and thrill of racing a machine capable of 200kmh and on you're knee is an amazing rush of adrenaline.

So we came to an agreement that we would go away and do an action with speed and within a deadline that we would not meet, but still continue to to.

so we went away and took 100 photos of things that involved our stimulation i.e motorbikes, coffe beans or an inhaler,

week five holidays

We ended up having one collaborative meeting on the second Monday at 9 o clock,
The Notes
Find a jumping off point (starting point)
We are collaborating in out lifes, every time we talk to someone, send a text, an email etc we are collaborating.
What Skills do we have to contribute ?
Lani – Piano, Finer Details, drawing, organised
Hana – Painting, Drawing, expressing, organize, idea generating, coordinating meetings
Me – Painting, Drawing, digital (illustrator and Photoshop)
Harry – Drawing, Painting, Confidence Boosting
Dando – Research, Controversial Sculptures, Being outside comfort zone and taking others to that place, drawing and painting
Sarah – digital, movie making, organised
Process from the last meeting
Mine -
Steering wheel – if you didn’t have one you wouldn’t be able to steer , but if you had no car and a steering wheel you’d be able to steer.
Hana -
Blank paper – if it was 3D it’d be hard to read and write, idea that generated from this covering self in screwed up paper
Sarah's idea that come from it, to write every thought down and cover yourself in it screwed up, this would be making your thoughts from the inside be on the outside.
Over Thinking, is great, but sometimes it can ruin things.
Where did we want to go, what came up in our conversations that meeting
Brain, Part of brain, brain maze, thoughts, half made of real brain and half of digital parts, taking the thoughts out of your mind so you can physically see it – writing, putting coffee to sleep, stimulate, box.
what keeps coming up in our conversations
brains, boxes and what stimulates your mind eg Coffee
we decided on doing 2 or 3 drawings, related to the mind and brain.
i only ended up doing one image

week four

Attending this meeting was: Sarah, Hana, Launi and myself.
and when we began it seemed as though we had hit a brick wall and and were just sitting around enjoying a coffee, so we brought our ideas to a halt and began to link our ideas together and put them into the category of "inside out".

At this point it was still just us four so we were able to just discuss some more ideas and things  to get the flow going a bit. But i think the challenge at this point was the fact two of our members were not turning up for the meetings, so i think we were feeling that we were recovering over the same ideas and processes and not getting the fresh ides from the other two members.

Paradox:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox

Paradox = contradicts itself. We seem to keep coming back to doing something with a paradox so we have now decided to look a bit more into it and see what comes out of this. “Deep down you’re really shallow.” We found this little quote on the internet trying to get our heads around the concept of paradox and bringing it to everyday things.

i really enjoyed looking at this painting by Banksy, its a perfect example of a paradox,
in that generally homeless people ask for change on the street, meaning the coin change in your pocket, but in this piece the picture is asking not for coin change but rather a change in his future?

This got us thinking, and we began thinking what if got an idea and then broke a rule for that.
I suggested that Launi who is a Christian Sunday church Girl
swap places with another one of our group members
Hana who is very blunt and straight forward girl who likes to part .

week three:

With our third week meeting we began looking into the mind and paradox themes.
and at how the mind can be such an amazingly powerful mechanism of the human body.
I began researching into Quantum Physics, but Wow, what a topic.
I began studying you tube videos and trying to get an understanding of how the mind is not just a blob of mass in the skull.

week two

In this meeting we began by updating  one of our other member's Sarah who was away for the last meeting. after that we got stuck into throwing ideas on paper of what we thought about "inside out".

Launi told us a brief story about a bird that had gotten stuck inside a shop in Stratford and the people couldn’t get the bird out, the bird did not want to be caught and taken outside. It was quite and inside out moment for her while at work, nature being stuck inside not being able to get outside.

Another idea I'd had was, to get cheap or free furniture and leave it outside somewhere  in New Plymouth were the public could interact with it. i mean why do we have everything inside? Shelter?.
So to bring what is the norm of living inside, outside.

For this we would of placed it around the Huatoki Plaza area but we thought of the process and paper work we may of had to do with the New Plymouth Council.
